The Double Bacon Foursquare Burger

The background
I love food, and I love Century Hospitality Group’s restaurants. I spend a lot of time there, and they treat me very well. I have partnered with CHG and Delux Burger Bar West Edmonton Mall to be their celebrity chef for the month of November. This is a huge honour for me, as previous celebrities have included Bridget Ryan & Ryan Jespersen from BT Edmonton, 96.3 Capital FM’s Kari Skelton, the Edmonton Journal’s resident foodie Liane Faulder, Adam Ungarian from HESCO (where I buy all of my kitchen supplies), and now me, the crazy bacon/twitter/real estate guy.

The burger
Surprisingly, I went easy and only used 2 strips of Irving’s Farm smoked bacon (for the calorie-conscious), a juicy slice of pineapple, melted jalapeño havarti cheese, red onion, lettuce, Diamond Willow 100% organic beef, and a little mayo, all on a square ciabatta bun (in keeping with the Foursquare theme). To add a little intrigue and to explain the name further, anyone who shows their server that they have checked in to Deluxe Burger Bar on Foursquare when they order will receive $1 off of their burger, which is already just $11.

The bonus
As you may well know, I have a soft spot in my heart for the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. Last year I was able to swindle about $5000 of your hard-earned dollars for the cause, and so far this year I’m at about $3000. My goal is $10000, and while I’m not sure if I’ll make it, I’m going to work as though it was a certainty. For every Double Bacon Foursquare Burger sold in the month of November, I will donating $1. I’m not sure how many that will be, but I understand that the previous record is over 450. I would love to break the record! It won’t be a lot of money, but it will make a difference to the mothers and children escaping violence in their home.

The beseeching
Don’t you think I’d raise more money if I asked you to help me? Of course I would! Let me first make you aware of the tax benefits of donating-they’re great. Let me now make you aware of the personal benefits of donating-they’re even better. I guarantee you will feel good about your donation. The Foundation has no overhead, as that is all paid for by Royal LePage, which means every cent you donate goes directly to the cause. Please consider how much you will donate, or if you will match me on a per-burger donation, or if you just want to write a cheque for a very large sum. I’ll take anything.
