Friends & family photo shoot

Hello friends & family! As fall approaches, I have reflected on the year thus far, and despite the challenge of adapting to pandemic policies and practices, it’s been a really great year for me. Business actually picked up when the world shut down, so I am counting my blessings.

I love giving back, and this event is something I can do to use my time and talents in a way that benefits you. You do not have to be a client in order to have a free photo shoot. It’s truly a friends and family event and there is no charge or obligation. It would be great to see you again, as this stupid pandemic has kept us apart for so long.

I welcome spouses, children, grandchildren, pets, exes, bosses, friends, rivals, enemies, strangers and aliens to attend. When is the last time you had a decent headshot taken, anyway? Or updated your Facebook profile picture? When you die, what sort of a photo will your family choose to go on the funeral program? It could be this one (too dark?).

Speaking of the pandemic, I should probably make it clear that anyone feeling unwell or recovering or who has travelled out of country recently should not attend, and we will keep a safe distance so as to not speak moistly on one another. Trust me, if you haven’t already, you do not want to get that thing shoved up your nose to be tested. Brutal.

Time, date, and location of the photo shoot

Last year, I held the event at Mill Creek Ravine, and this time I wanted to change the venue to try something new. Rather than a secluded nature setting we will be showing off the beautiful Edmonton City Skyline from a great vantage point. I will meet you atop what I affectionately call the Walterdale Hump. It’s the mound just southeast of the Walterdale Bridge overlooking the city.

This event will take place on Saturday, 19 September 2020, and I am taking appointments from 10 am to 6 pm. See below for the link to book your session. The weather looks awesome, too!

 

Where to park

There are a couple spots nearby that I’d recommend:

Queen Elizabeth Park

This is the best option, as you don’t have to cross any roads between here and the hump.

ᐄᓃᐤ (ÎNÎW) River Lot 11∞ Indigenous Art Park

(pronounced ee’-new). This is halfway down Queen Elizabeth Park Road on the left side. Maybe a couple dozen parking stalls. While you’re there, enjoy the outdoor artwork in this recently-completed park.

Kinsmen Sports Centre

This is just across 105 Street, so you’ll have to cross a busy intersection and climb up the hump. Lots of parking here.

You could always walk or bike if you’re close enough, just don’t blame me if you’ve got a bit too much glow in your photos!
